A while back I said I was a traitor to me self and bought a SS 357 Blackhawk. Well I finally was able to take some Photos.

But there is more to the story. It seems I can shoot the 4 5/8" better than my 6 1/2" 357 by a country mile, so I traded in the 6 1/2 incher for a 4 5/8 " and I can shoot this blued one as well as the SS. The Ballance seems better in my hand.

What's really wierd is I shoot my 6.5" 44 Magnum Blackhawk as well as the Ying & Yang 357s, go figure................................

Nice rugers, I always liked the longer barrels on my rugers. In the last few months I bought two rugers from forum members,Both 4 5/8 barrels. One in .41 mag and one in .45 colt. I have to agree with you,Nicely balanced and just feel right. Enjoy.

I agree, I've always liked the looks and balance and have been able to shoot short barrels better than the long. I figure it this way, the long barrels accentuate any slight movement while aiming which moves the bullet pt of impact more than a short barrel, at least for me.

One thing I noticed between the two BH other than one has the internal Lock and the other doesn't is the Cylinder Base Pins, The SS has the Coller and the Blued one does not. Wonder why that is.......................

Yes I noticed that on yours and others lately. You'll see it more and more until the collared pin is gone because I believe Ruger has found another shortcut to reduce material and machine time costs.
They can start with a lot smaller diameter piece of round stock and not have to machine off a third of it to make the collar or mill the notch in the collar for barrel clearance!

The flat tops and New Vaqueros wouldn't have them anyway because they are both built on the mid-size frame. Collared pins only came on the large frames.
