WTT/S New Vaquero .45 Colt (Neb)

Hi all,
I bought this probably six months or so ago with plans to use it as a basis for a custom I had in mind. The custom isn't going to happen and I've got my .45 Colt bases well covered. I'd prefer to trade, but I'll also sell it for $450 shipped from private party. This Vaquero has had a Bisley hammer added (hammer altered, not frame) and the front sight has been slightly reshaped. Gun is very accurate and the trigger is pretty nice. None of the work was done by me so I can't comment on it.

Looking to trade for an SP-101, either a 3" or 4" .22lr or .357., A blued New Bearcat or 4-5/8" Single-Six. A blued .357 New Vaquero or GP-100 would work as well. Thanks.

That looks an awful lot like the one I used to have and traded to a member here. If it is I can tell you who worked on it.

Well, it has had the throats opened up to .452, the forcing cone cut to 11 degrees, the sight reshaped as seen, and a bullseye trigger return spring installed. Taking the rounded edge off the rear of the sight really sharpened up the sight picture. Here is the final group I shot with it before declaring it ready for deer season. The load was 12.0gr of HS-6, WW standard primer, WW brass, and the 270SAA Mihec HP at 25 yards. 6 shots, and yes I flubbed one by placing too much finger on the trigger.

I messed up and read a post about shooting 265gr boolits at 1000fps from a 1911 and just had to try it, so this one went on the block.

FWIW, the 12gr load of HS-6 pushed the 280ish gr boolits at just over 1000fps from this revolver.

Someone will get a good one.

Well hey guys. I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I can sure say that the 45 NM Vaquero is one fine shooter.....as I traded for it from TEK4260 to ChiefTJS! The Bisley hammer on that 45 makes it a joy to use for my smaller hands. Both of these guys are a pleasure to trade with. Here is yours Chief: I made some walnut grips for it. It is fantastic! Hey TEK, you still have the 1911? Once again sorry for hijacking the thread, just saying howdy.

Nice info. I talked to my dealer this morning and the 45 with the Bisley hammer you folks all have had affairs with prior to me has arrived for retirement in sunny Florida. I have not had a chance to go pick it up yet, and I just ordered some stag grips for it this morning. Good thing it is a Ruger or I would be worried about it being worn out! LOL!!!

I am looking forward to getting it from the dealer.

Do any of you know if it was sighted in for any particular load other than the one listed up above?

I have a whole mess of 200 grain lead 45 bullets that I would like about 950 fps out of. It should be easily attained but may shoot low from what you guys are describing for loads.

tek and bean would be the ones to ask about loads. I just threw some Skeeter loads through it that I had loaded up and all I got was one ragged hole. :D I think you'll be very happy with the accuracy of this gun.

I have no doubt. I did a little looking and it looks like my pretty much standard load of 9 grains Unique with a 200 will work with this too.

Can't wait to pick it up and shoot it!

I didn't even run 100 rds through it. Nothing over 900 fps. That gun deserves a good home.

Yep still have it! Shooting that same Mihec from it at nearly the same velocity as the old Colt round :)

Seems to work well enough. Dropped a deer within a few ragged leaps last season at 70 long steps.
