4) SPF "Stanley" the Impossible Life of Africa's Greatest Explorer" by Tim Jeal. Starting in a Welsh poorhouse, then serving with and deserting from both the Confederate Army and the Union Navy, gold mining in Colorado, and THEN exploring Africa! 5) SPF "Running the Amazon" by Joe Kane. Account of the only expedition to travel the entire length of the Amazon from its Andean source to the Atlantic in KAYAKS! Interesting people, places, fish, and SNAKES! New/exc. cond. PB 290 pp. illus w/maps and many b/w photos.

10) "Secret Service: The Hidden History of an Enigmatic Agency" by Philip Melanson and Peter Stevens. Complete history of the Secret Service from its anti-counterfeiting origin in 1865 to its secretive multi-roles today. HB new cond. w/new dust jacket 375 pp. $6

11) SPF "The Natchez Trace: A Pictorial History" by James Crutchfield. Heavily illustrated tour/history of the old "highway" from Nashville to Natchez MS, used by Indians, pioneers, soldiers and outlaws. 8 1/2 x 11" quality PB new cond. 160 pp. illus. w/b/w photos and old repros of historical prints.

12) SPF "1776" by David McCullough. Best seller by a prize-winning historian. The whole story of the year that made US. War, politics, propaganda, and espionage. 13) SPF "Phil Sheridan and His Army" by Paul A. Hutton. Custer expert and UNM historian's detailed history of the Indian Wars under Gen.
