WTS Sambar stag for an Old Model XR3

I want to get a good friend and forum member paid back for something he did for me a while back so i'm dropping the price of these all the way down to $200 shipped and insured per set.

all Old Model XR3 grips are flat Bottomed and each set has a really great feel to them, not too thick and not too thin, as close to perfect as you can get IMO.

terrific set with really really deep Bark grooves in the right panel, unfortunately as you can see in the last pic the corner chipped off the right panel as I was making them, not very noticeable though.

Zane,

These grips don't seem to be polished yet, are you selling them as 95-99% completed grips?
Regarding the nice set with the corner shipped; is that $200 include the corner repaired?

it's hard to tell from the pics I took but all the grips have been wet sanded out to 2000 grit which is what I finish sand all my ivory, stag, bone and antler grips to.

unfortunately the little piece that chipped off was launched into space by the belt sander and I was never able to find it, if I had been able to find it I could have probably epoxied it back on, i'd have to look at them again to make sure but I might be able to epoxy on another piece, it would require me sanding the chipped area flat though which would make it a little more noticeable.

either way I could knock another $25 off that set because of the chip.

I'm interested in set #2. Are you sure these are Sambar and not American elk? They look awfully white in color.

howdy Steve,

well I have no way to guarantee they're Sambar (I wasn't there when they were found or taken from the animal lol) but the blanks were sold to me as Sambar stag from a very well known knife making supplier and they were denser/heavier and had deeper bark grooves than any elk antler I've ever worked with.
