But does the 45 Colt drop in cylinder work on both the .44 & .45 version of the Old Army?

Yes, a 45 colt cylinder is correct fo both.

If I remember correctly, they way it was measured lands back then and grooves now, or versa vica.

Go to Rugers web or ask a BP shooter to explain the techs of it. I teach how now, not why then.

How about a BP-5F-I? That is the short barrel, fixed sight, stainless steel, high polish,
white grips, as new in box and a fairly rare model. Pretty gun/not cheap. :D
