WTB: New Vaquero Plow Handle Grip Frame

I just bought a blued NV Birdshead, and (if it's even possible) I'd like to get a plow handle grip frame for variety. Let me know if a) you've got one to sell, or b) this is a dumb idea.

If you have slightly larger than normal hands the NM Vaquero plow handle is tiny. I swapped mine out for an steel XR3 red from a 4 5/8ths Super. Much better. IMHO. Not just a simple swap though. The little notch in the GF has to be perfect for the free spin pawl to work right. Good luck whatever you decide.

Thanks for the info. I've got an old model Vaquero that feels pretty big with the stock faux ivory grips. I do like the feel of the New Vaquero, though, so I'm probably better off just buying the full gun and having another toy.

I don't have one at the present time but it's a great idea! The regular NV plow handle is the XR3 size and only 7/16" wide, but hard to find. This shows the difference between the other two plow handles that have round trigger guards and can be fit to your gun.

You can get a new one in the white, have it fitted and blued. The ones made for the lock are discontinued and Pretty cheap at Brownell's http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/frame-parts/frames/grip-frame-prod44163.aspx A take off will cost you over $125 if you can even find one.

They come with or w/o internal lock. Your birdshead doesn't have a lock so if you find one that's made for a lock, you'll need a Bearcat spring seat for your mainspring to work.

@5card - Not looking to swap. Would like to have both so I can switch back and forth for the fun of it.
@Hondo44 - Thanks for the info and the Brownell's link. It's fairly inexpensive, so that may be the way I go.

If you buy one from Brownells, you will have 4 -5 hours of fitting and then it will be in the white. You would be far better off to find one from a Ruger, it will be fitted and finished and the overall cost way lower. There will be folks that tell you it is an easy job. It is not and depending on how fussy you are it is tuff to get a good fit if you are not a good metal worker and have th right equiptment. I know yyou can fit it with a dremmel tool sure and it will lok like you fit it with a dremmel tool!
