I am selling a 3 gun commemorative set of Security Sixes. This is a Ruger factory reference set having consecutive serial numbers and 3 different barrel lengths. They are "Minnesota Conservation Officer" commemoratives. Noted on page 278 of Chad's "Reference of Ruger Firearms", pocket edition #2. New in the box. My family has a summer home in Sunapee NH a few miles form the Ruger factory. Dad became quite friendly with many Ruger employees as he also had an FFL and bought many employee guns and also many U and asterisk guns. Back in the mid 80's, I'd have to verify the dates, a Ruger Production Manager came to my dad and began selling him quite a few guns. It was from him we got the SN 175 subscription. He came to my dad with these 3 and probably 20 others all very rare NIB. Dad bought them all. About 2-3 months later the NH State police pay dad a visit. He was informed the guns were stolen from the factory collection. Dad had to surrender all the guns and testify. Person plead guilty, served 5 years or so. Of course he lost his job which was basically the number one guy in Operations. At the time it was a 100K job probably. After the sentencing, WBR SR. allowed the return of the guns to my dad

Did your Dad have to surrender the other 20 guns or so? Sorry - I guess I'm hi-jacking the thread but what the heck - free bumps for great guns!

That is the mark of a true gentleman, he returned guns to someone despite the fact they were stolen from him. Awesome story and an awesome set of Rugers! I dearly wish I had the funds sir.

There's also more to that story that is pretty interesting. Not only are the three different barrel length guns featured in the thread consecutive (a rare occurence with Ruger manufacturing unless purposely done), they were also produced long after the original Minneapolis Police Commemoratives (that had a sn range of 153-06351 to 154-11931), so realizing they didn't hold any back from the original run, Ruger decided they needed to have a set laying around there for reference.

Golferboy's dad got some other sets at the same time including a consecutive numbered set of GA32, GA34 and GA36 revolvers, Minnesota Conservation Officer commemorative, sn's 155-68229, 155-68230 and 155-68231. These three numbers are within the sn range of the other production guns.

And then there was also a consecutive pair of two different commemorative GA36's, a Sunnyvale Public Safety revolver #159-55022 and an Ohio State Highway Patrol revolver 159-55023, each also made well after the regular runs.

Oh yeah...must have been still wiping the sleep out of my eyes when I wrote that!

What I meant to say was the three different models of South Dakota Peace Officer Commemoratives in this deal as well....sn's 155-68350 (GA36), 155-68351 (GA34) and 155-68352 (GA32).
