What are the different memberships?

I noticed that I am a new member (Bear Cat) and I would like to know what that means and entails?

It has to do with post count, nothing more.

And even then, it means nothing. Some folks have their posts arbitrarily erased while some folks have thousands that have never been touched.

Question! Do you have to be a contributing member to have access to all of the forums? I seem to be unable to access forums that are political in nature.

Yes, you have to be a Contributing Member to view the Politics forum. Prior to that the Members were grandfathered in and weren't locked out.
