Here's a few pics of an old gun I have custody of at the moment.

Anybody familiar with these German drillings? It's a 20 gauge over 222. Has a Kahles scope not pictured.

Hi,

My knowledge of Drillings is worth about two cents on a good day. But I've been led to believe a lot of the names were "re-badged" from just a few mfrs. I always thought they were cool, but never fired or owned one.

Years ago I was hunting up in The Bottoms of west Tennessee when I met a young man hunting with a German drilling. It was a WW II bring-back and had been given his father in payment for some dental work, his father being a dentist.

The gun was a 16 ga. double over a 7.62 x ??mm which he later learned was the metric equivalent of the .30-30 American rifle cartridge.

Beautiful gun, beautifully made.

I think you're probably right about that Fox Mike. 1870 a model number or maybe serial number, I don't know.

Suspect this gun was made in the 1960's but really have no clue. Most of the other guns the previous owner had were from that vintage.

Also suspect the Kahles scope may be worth as much ( or more? ) than the gun itself.

Waffen Frankonia is a large and old German sporting retailer that sells quality hunting arms the gun was made in 1968.

While stationed in Wertheim Germany I ordered a JP Sauer .308 Stuzen rifle with a 2 1/2 x 10 Zeiss scope with swing mounts from them. This was back in 1983 and the total package cost me $800.00. Their store in Wuerzburg Germany is one of the most high end sporting goods store I have ever been in.

I still have that rifle and have taken many German Roebuck and American White Tail deer with it.
