I got a new to me but used 2012 Honda Rancher four wheeler a few weeks back and have been itching to ride it. I have ridden it around the yard, but its a not a four wheeler riding sized yard. Its been a very dreary day here and thought it was going to rain for most of the day. I live about 1 hr 15 min from the hunt club i hunt at so its not just down the road. Well me and my buddy thought we would give it a go, rain or shine, and we saw their was a small window in between bands of weather. By the time we got out there the sun was trying to peek out. We ended up getting about 4+ hours worth of rain free time, Weather man was wrong again.

We went to a piece of land we lease for the hunt club. We just joined this year and We wanted to just ride around and get a better idea of where the stands were in relation to each other and what not. We had a ladder stand that we had to mess with briefly and then checked out the area somewhat kind of close that location looking for a spot to put another stand. We found lots of rubs in a spot and were just checking them out. When i turned one way i saw something crazy. I saw a deer on the ground, IT WAS A BUCK. its was laying down and i didnt know what was going on at first site. I then figured it was dead before i approached it. As i approached it i could see that it was curled up and stomach had started to bloat. It was a fresh deer with no signs of predators eating at it, and no decomposition. It had been hit with buck shoot in one of the back legs from what we saw and also in the stomach. We didnt really check it out. We cut the horns off and will try and see if we can find someone who shoot at a pretty nice deer. It was not huge, but a very pretty deer. It was a 10 pt 14.5" wide and 12" tall. I would have been very happy and more than proud to have taken the deer. Its a shame it had to expire the way it did and not taken with a more lethal shot, truly a shame.

Me and my buddy ended up riding a good bit and getting off to check out here and there, it was a very good day being outside and just relaxing. Weather held off until we were driving home, got to ride the four wheeler and even with both of us (230 and 250 lbs), it did great and no problems at all puttin around the land going through a little bit of mud, up some not to steep hills, and over smaller downed trees/limbs. We took turns driving it and used a throw cushion from my boat as a pad to sit on, it worked out great. Im trying to talk him into getting an ATV so letting him drive got him to think he enjoyed it very much and might really want to get one. He has never had one before.

I also recently bought a 1985 Honda Atc 110 three wheeler for $50 as a second bike, so maybe ill get it running soon, he can ride that a few times and that will encourage him to make the plunge.

Here the ATC 110, its in good shape but doesnt run. It sat for a handful of years after it stopped running. Need to get a few things and clean out the carb and see what it will do.

yeah i grew up riding a 1983 110... cant get too adventurous on those 3 wheelers thats for sure. Itll be a very fun little bike to ride though. I have already cleaned out the gas tank to get rid of the rust, i need to get an air fliter, clean the carb, and then ill see if itll run.

The guy i got it from has already changed the spark plug and the oil. It seems to have decent compression when pulling on the pull starter. If i cant get it going with my limit mechanical skills i know plenty of people that either farm for living or raced dirts bike. someone will get it going.

Buck reminded me of one we found locally some years ago. Very nice buck and similar situation. We notified a warden friend who checked and found buckshot. Not legal for use in Wisconsin so suspected someone likely tried to use it while poaching a few days before season opener. always a shame to see a nice animal wasted.

Be careful riding that 110 to not break an ankle. Sweet for sure.

LOL ya do not put your leg out in a corner. I learned that years ago! After riding dirt bikes it becomes second nature, not good on an ATC. pd
