Recently heard someone say "Trust is believing that bridge will hold up as you cross it. Faith is crossing it."
I made a trade deal on a part with a man on another forum. We agreed to an even swap. Making what passed as a handshake deal on the internet, I got my part ready to mail and did so this morning, emailing him to the effect. His response was something like "Thanks for trusting me," as h was not able to get his in the mail yet.
Now the way I figure it, if I make the first move, my display of trust, if he's any kind of man at all, he'll live up to that trust. And maybe, just maybe, I'll have added a little steel to his backbone and strengthened his resolve. A little thing, to be sure, but big things often are made up of many little things.
What if I'm disappointed? I'm out a little, but he then risks the censure of other correspondents.
Am I naive? Maybe so, but if I've helped a man become a little better man, its worth the risk.
That's the way I see it.
