Treehouse almost finished then this happens.

I've been building a treehouse for our 10 Grandchildren plus one due arrive in four weeks. I used a lot of power tools and really have worked safely until today. I used a knife instead of a chisel or planer.

It's looking good!



Then I do this to myself! Ouch!!



Now 7-10 days with stitches.

Not very large really 12'x 12' deck with a 6'x9' ft cabin. Not quite big enough if my wife actually throws me into the doghouse! But better than a tent. The Grandchildren are already enjoying it.

Nice lookin' house, sad lookin' thumb. I know the feeling on the thumb. The nurses at the local hospital emergency room knew me by name as I walked in with one more sliced open finger from working on cars.

Did something like that to my little finger carving on Balsa wood for a model airplane with an Exacto knife; I wondered where that RED paint was coming from; I had split that little finger from top to bottom and never felt a thing.
Aint SHARP !!! knives wonderful?

Sorry to see that you had a little "leak", but looks like you got it drip proofed. Time to get the lounge chairs up on the new deck and take in the scenery for a spell. Might want to get some age appropriate beverages too.

I like the treehouse. The Grandkids will be enjoying the treehouse long after your thumb heals. I've done stuff like that to myself before too.

Can we come play in the treehouse? yep, them thumbs get whacked a lot. Nice stitching job. Hopefully you are right handed. Keep it clean. You should heal right up. Tell each grandchild a different story on how that scar got there. It will be fun in the future!

Well watch out for nail guns....I put a 3 1/2" ring shank between my thumb and finger on my left hand once...

It went strait in with just the head sticking out....it didn't hurt much :lol: :lol: :lol:

Well the only part of my story that really bothered me is I had my camera with me but grabbed the pliers and yanked it out before I took a pic :roll: :roll: :roll:

Never hurt and only left a tiny red mark where it went in....seems like I got really lucky...RR

Be glad that the doctor was conscientious enough to use stitches rather than staples. The last time I had a cut that needed intervention, they used staples, and they are easy to install, but a b!@#$ to remove yourself. Stitches are easy, and painless.

At my last episode they 'super glued' the hole in the finger together rather than stitch it. It felt a lot like rubbing salt in the wound. REALLY got my attention!

Betcha' wish you had used a chisel or planer about now. Years ago we got our boys a bike tire/ball pump. It was attached to the card by the plastic zip ties. Middle son gets in my tool box and gets a utility knife to cut the zip ties, cuts his thumb instead. Wife gets it all cleaned up and Band-Aid applied and off he went. All seemed well until about a month later he came in and said "I can't move my thumb" Sure enough, he could not move it. Had to have surgery to re-attach the tendons he severed.
