Although I resisted the use of this after my surgery, it became necessary and I had no choice. Guess what? I decided I didn't need it anymore and have been up most of the night with the "itchies" and general malcontent. I know this feeling from 20 years ago when I was "addicted" to Tramidol in the late 90's.
All the doctor types said "Oh, this is mild and hardly ever causes problems with quitting". Not for me. Guess it's just my chemistry.

I had a big old yellow farm dog who got kind of crippled up in the hindquarters with age. Vet put him on Tramidol, he took 4 pills a day. It really helped him get around.

My bride, who weighed just a little more than the dog, had some surgery done and received a Rx for Tramidol, one pill per day. The pills were the same size. Being cautious, she took half a pill the first time. She said it was so strong she could barely get untracked, and never took another dose.

Chumley dog’s pills were a lot cheaper than the ones for humans from the pharmacy, fortunately. He took a bunch of those things over the last couple years of his life. It was a little money, well spent.

They used the same stuff after my heart surgery. If worked as advertised. I’ve never had a problem taking or stopping pain meds. Not sure where it is compared to vicodin or percoset but worked just as well.

I have been checking into "natural", relief for my old dogs stiff joints, aches and pains...
Evidentially chicken feet have high amounts of glucosamine ....
So when I run into wasilla for a supply run, I am going to buy a big bag and see if this will help him.. Of course he will just chomp on them.. I am going to try it in a broth for a shoulder that gets a bit stiff and sore..... I carry to many logs on that shoulder I guess...
Anywhoo.... just a thought......

Tramadol is an opioid. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramadol Hence your withdrawal symptoms. Tapering off of them is the route to go to avoid those issues.

I don't remember what the doc gave me when I had the laproscopic surgery on my first knee which during the last 19+ years has been an off and on again problem with pain usually handled with cortisone. Doc gave me Vicodin for the pain.
Had the same thing done on my left knee about four or five years ago and was given Tramadol. I took one and that was all. I don't even remember why I didn't take more. When I had the ski cancer remover from my nose and left elbow I was again given Tramadol. I took one and the rest joined the ones from the previous operation. Due to the pain in my knees I do 2000mg Tylenol twice a day which as far as I can see helps very little. Some days I do another 2000MG when it gets bad. I know Ibuprophen and Naproxen work better but long term usage can damage one's kidneys according to my primary care doc and Nephrologist. I was using Naproxen until my pmc doc to me to see the Nephrologist. My kidneys were at level three and since being off the naproxen they've came back to level two which is great. Tey will never go back to level one due to my age. (81)

Actually Tramadol is a "SYNTHETIC" opioid analgesic medication. It's not made from opium poppy.

Back 15 years ago you could order it on the Internet without a prescription. Now like everything else it's controlled by the government because of idiot druggies.

My wife went to Walmart a couple of months ago to buy some Sudafed and she had to show her ID in order to buy it. What next Aspirin?

Yep Rook you are correct, but it is still listed as an opioid due to its chemical makeup. Tylenol:
“Liver warning: This product contains acetaminophen. Severe liver damage may occur if you take Tylenol:
more than 4,000 mg of acetaminophen in 24 hours
with other drugs containing acetaminophen
3 or more alcoholic drinks every day while using this product”
From the Tylenol website.
Tylenol doesn’t decrease inflammation that causes pain.
Alkanalize your body to reduce systemic inflammation. This can be done by changing your diet. Turmeric/Curcumin, the spice, is very helpful with joint pain. Glucosamine with MSM is helpful with joint pain and rebuilding cartilage.
As noted the NSAIDS (aspirin, ibuprofen, naprosyn, toradol), being antiprostaglandins, have gastrititis as an side effect(prostaglandins maintain the lining of the stomach), and also are rough on kidneys. Good luck!

I was in the hospital for a couple of days because of a toothache not to long ago. How's that you say? It was a bad one, infection, root canal, started with the specialist and prescription for pain and antibiotics. The painkiller was Ultracet which is Tramidol with acetaminophen. Take one every 4 hours as needed plus I added a few Motrin and Tylenol. After I decided I needed 2 every 4 hours I ran out of pills and went to the ER. Instead of another prescription I got treated for an Acetaminophen overdose. Seems I was also taking too much and stressed out my liver. So be careful out there with Tylenol. That medicine they give you to detoxify the liver is n-a-s-t-y. I had to take 4 doses of it and it is not only bad going down but coming out also. Even your sweat stinks like sewage.

Broke two major bones in the last year: a humerus (3 places) and kneecap & tibia (smashed). Spent a total of over 6 months in the hospitals (still in P/T=going this AM). Returned to work and retired 3 weeks later! Put me on Oxy and Tylenol: I cannot stand opiates! After 3-4 days went on just Tylenol (I do have a high pain tolerance per my Doc and heal exceptionally fast). She told Tylenol is better for broken bones because Advil interferes with bone replacement (?). Put me on Tylenol for both breaks. X-rays proved her right! (She said that and a good diet. Asked me what I was eating and I told her: McDonald's and Jack-in-the-Box)

I used Advil for fever and muscle aches and Tylenol for broken bones. BTS: Diagnosed with Osteopenia because I've broken 10 bones in 10 years==second time on the left kneecap!
