You were right... about the CZ40B lol. Well I didnt think I could find accuracy worse than a Ruger P series... guess I just did. LOL You warned me.

The CZ RAMI is even more accurate lol.

The CZ 75B Stainless is AMAZINGLY accurate.

I cant get over the wide range of accuracy. It doesn't make sense.

A buddy of mine has a newer Ruger KP944 (stainless) .40 and its great accuracy. I feel kinda bad because all the P-series I've personally owned were horrible!

As far as .40s go. My Springfield XD is GREAT. The Sig P229 I used to own was AMAZING. Thats IT! I cant stand it anymore. I'm going to get another P229! Purchase and range report pending!

Good luck with your purchase DA_Triggr.

I haven't gotten an opportunity to shoot a CZ or a Sig but I do find your comments about the XD & P944 interesting. The reason why is I bought my P944 in 2000. I got where I could hit pretty well with it but then in 2007 I bought my XD. At first I couldn't hit with it for anything. Then after about my third range trip with it I started shooting it better than I did my P944. Now for the interesting part. A couple of years back I got to meet Armed In AZ at a range here & we shot a lot of different guns. I let him shoot the P944 & the XD. At 10 yards he shot a 1 1/8" inch group with the P944. His group with the XD was 1 1/4". I don't really believe my P944 is inaccurate. I do believe the ergonomics & trigger system of the XD work better for me.

I carried a P229 for about 12-15 years. To date, it was the most accurate semi I have ever shot. Went from a S&W 5904 to the SIG and it was like going from a Yugo to a Rolls. Unbelievable difference.

Took my recently purchased SR40C out today - while not as smooth as the P229, I was impressed with the way it handled. I would have preferred to have stuck with a SIG, but $$$-wise? The 40C will do just fine, thank you. This SR40C has shown me a whole different world.

I miss my P229 too much. I'm getting one again. Most accurate .40 I've owned.

I have a friend who has two P229's that he's willing to sell. I really wanted to go that route, but I just can't justify the added cost between the P229 and the SR40C I just purchased. If I shot competition, it would be a no-brainer. But, just to have it for what I need, nope. The wife understands why I needed a different weapon than the one I have, but there are trade-offs, at least in my book. :)

Its crazy how a buddy of mine can get crazy accuracy out of his P944. I can shoot it just as well. But the P-series I have owned were horrid accuracy. Are they hit and miss? Is that why Ruger designed the SR series? That P944 would be an awesome addition to any firearms collection belonging to an individual who enjoys accuracy! GO RUGER!

You may have gotten one of those super rugers! :D

I'm considering undertaking a quest to find one as well.

Hi DA!

Are you referring to the 40B my buddy sold you?

If so, I thought you had shot it and liked it. If not, you found out what I thought about the one I had.

I've had 3 40s and they were all garbage. I'll never own another.

Sorry to hear it's not up to your standards. I know mine wasn't up to my standards.

P series not accurate?
This was my first target from an out of the box P95:

Have shot some better since then, but it is definately accurate enough. The P90 I own does even better.

Sigs are spectacularly accurate ... always have been.

My 225 and 226 are the most accurate non-1911 semi's that I've ever fired. Ergonimically I prefer the CZ75 by far. Can't stand decockers.

That is curious that the CZ40B should have accuracy issues? Every CZ75 I've shot was excellent.
I own a Tanfoglio Witness Match (a CZ clone) in 40 and it's exceptionally accurate. If you like the CZ platform but want a 40 you might give one a try, a lot of gun for very little $. I also added a 10mm barrel, recoil spring + mags and can change over to 10mm in a blink of an eye. It shoots 10s just a tightly.

CZ40's are not CZ75's.

CZ75 .40's are very accurate. I, like Rev, am not a fan of the forty at all but my reason has to do with another caliber that I don't need. The full sized and compact (P-06) CZ75 based .40's I have fired have been quite accurate, just not interested.

Ah OK, I'm not super familiar with all the different CZ model.

Yea I know neither of you guys like the 40, I on the other hand am a big fan of the caliber. I also a big fan of the .41 Magnum but at least the marketplace agrees with me on the 40. The poor .41 died an ugly death. LOL

I've got a Tanfoglio Elite Witness Match and a Beretta Brigadier 96 INOX in .40.
The Tanfo is a bit more accurate it's a real tackdriver plus I can change it over to 10mm in a matter of seconds.
The Beretta's build quality is impeccable, the slide is tight and operates like oiled glass on glass, all the rest of the controls are equally smooth. Just overall feels like a hand built custom.
Can't really chose a fav, love them both for their own special qualities.

Exuse the dumb question, but I keep seeing 'tack driver' and have no idea what it means. I see it in magazines, forums, sale ads, but no one ever says what it is. It seems to apply to 1911s, but- I don't see whywhatwherfor.

I couldn't agree more.

I now have two 229/40s (one built in 2010, the other in 1994) and each is superbly accurate. But so is my SR-40c, which I bought as a back-up to my first SIG at way less than half the cost. I rather like the idea of low-cost efficiency.

Should the SR-40c prove less durable, I think Ruger will do what it needs to do to keep its well-earned reputation.

It just means the gun is very accurate. Ever see the trick performed where a nail is just started into a piece of wood, then from a set distance a shooter aims at the head of the nail and drives it into the wood with a bullet? Same reference.

I would feel comfortable saying this, the 9mm. pistols and .45 ACP pistols I have owned have always been more inherently accurate it seems, than my .40 cal. ones.

Other than the P89 and a few oddballs in the mix. The 2 most accurate 9mm. handguns Ive owned were the CZ 75B followed closely by the Beretta 92 FS.

Got a couple springfield 1911s, waiting (since last june) on my Ruger SR1911... The least accurate .45 I've owned was a Taurus PT945 and it was still more accurate than most of the .40 cals. I've had.

Still on the hunt for a Sig P229 .40. They are evereywere, just trying to get a good deal. hehe.
