Thought I had a big enough bench...

...I know it's a little cluttered, but I figured I had a big enough bench to clean my AR-556...

But "something" (Daisy) took up some room to "help".


So, I was relegated to a corner of the bench...

Uhh...it's called humor... LOL I'm not a big fan of cats but I certainly don't hate them (except maybe the neighborhood strays that leave muddy footprints all over my car). And I love dogs and would have made the same comment if your assistant had been a pooch...in fact...poodles are probably the best bore mops...

There are always exceptions, of course, but it has been my observations over the years that lead me to believe that cats, while occasionally "helping" are usually just mildly interested observers who get in the way in the course of their "observing". Dogs, on the other hand, are far more likely to take an active (although almost always NOT helpful) part in whatever activity is taking place.

Did you ever try to read a newspaper or magazine spread out on the floor, with a cat around? He will plop smack in the middle of it every time. (back in the day when I used to be able to get up and down off the floor).

If you watch a cat carefully when it plops on the paper, it's almost always dead center in the column you were reading! Dunno how they do that... mine are getting more tech savvy with time, and they can hit the keyboard the same way! :shock:

Having given this some thought...it actually makes sense. I'm not what you'd call a cat person but one thing I do know is they are predators...even the common house cat and even as a kitten. It's instinctual and you can see it in how they play.

One thing a stalking predator has to be good at is every nuance of the prey...where are they looking at any given moment? etc.

I bet the cat's are detecting where one is looking and, because they're demanding attention instead of stalking prey, they put themselves right in the middle of wherever their person is looking.
