I do try to not disrespect anybodies weapon of choice, as it may be very well the only gun a person can afford, but my experience puts Hi-Point into the debate of ya get whatcha pay for.

I have a Hi-Point 9MM carbine. I works great, never a jamb, no failures ever, and accurate. If they were such junk, I can't see how the company would stay in business since they have a 100% no questions asked guarantee. Send it in, they will fix it, and from what I understand they will send you a free mag for your trouble.

They don't seem as ugly as they used to be because there are some newer pistols by other manufacturers that make guns just as ugly. Some of these compact 9mms with rails look almost the same as a High Point. One thing with such a... ah... substantial pistol is that you could beat an attacker to death with the thing if it doesn't work.

Does it come in khaki ? A friend brought his carbine over. We ended up chasing bolt charging handle parts around on the patio. A minor thing yes, but leaves a funny taste in your mouth still. I Guess if I wanted a pistol caliber carbine, not a bad idea, I'd look at for one of the Rugers in the used rack or a Kel-Tec SUB2000 that could share mags with something else here.

I watched a guy shoot a Hi-Point for 4 days at Front Sight Nevada a couple years ago. Never seemed to have any trouble and almost got Distinguished Graduate with the thing.
But the ARE ugly.

No experience with High Point but I did come close to buying one once. I was at a gun show & a guy had a pile of them he was selling for $99 (this was in 2007). I was tempted to get one just to play with but after thinking about it I decided I really didn't have any need & would be better off saving my cash for something I really wanted. Most of what I have heard is that they work though.
