Yesterday I saw a new Tandy leather store in south Florida (U.S. 441 in Margate) so I stopped in. The clerk told me they were open about a year and were fully stocked with most anything I could think of for leather working.

I've been buying doodads for the few leather projects on Ebay and it's nice to see that Tandy is not only still in business but they're expending.

The closest Tandy store to me is about 30 miles away and in Baltimore. I buy all my leather, tools, and 'stuff' on line. I use Weaver or Tandy generally but some leather from other sources.

I grew up about a mile from a building that had 2 stores in it a Tandy and a Radio Shack.

I spent a lot of time and money in both of them.

I actually took classes at the Tandy store.

I was surprised to learn Tandy and Radio Shack were parts of the same company. I knew of quite a few Radio Shacks, but only the one Tandy location.

Didn't know Tandy and Radio Shack were owned by the same folks. Interestingly, we had two radio shacks in town and one had a Tandy in the same shopping center, two doors down. Add to that the various marine electronic stores in a port town and I was in hog heaven.

It was almost a requirement for a kid to build his own radio set. By the way for those that don't know, they were called "sets" because they had both a transmitter and receiver.

The leather seats in my Silverado are getting tattered and I may look into buying a few hides to get the captain's chairs redone.

All through high school I worked in Radio Shack after school and on summer vacations, all me friends were bums and always wanted to "borrow" money from me, yeah with no way to pay it back.
