Got up fast in disgust and my pants fell to my ankles! Bet they saved the tape!
Hi,
If it's any consolation, you're not alone, Bill!
Years ago I was visiting an Aunt and Uncle over the weekend, and my uncle had to catch a flight for work Sunday morning. We took him to the airport and were all going thru the metal detectors (this was pre-9/11.)
I set off the buzzer, and the little Asian lady in charge of that lane (read: relatively freshly imported from the old country, "No speaka da English too good" and not so well trained in how to do anything more than one way) insisted I take off my belt. I tried to tell her it was NOT my belt buckle as I went thru those detectors frequently back then, always wearing the same belt. I asked her to get her wand.
"You take off belt" she kept telling me. I told her "No, my pants will fall down if I do."
"You take off belt" was the reply. Ok...
I turned to the people behind me (fortunately, Sunday morning didn't have much of a crowd) and told them "I apologize for what you're about to see" as I removed my belt. Handed her the belt just as my pants went down to about knee high. There was a roar of laughter from the folks, and somebody from the next lane came over to see what the commotion was all about. "I'm sorry, Sir," he told me just before telling her in a voice the entire airport could hear, "Use the da(r)ned wand!" Turns out "the problem" was a little credit card sized calculator in my shirt pocket. Told ya, Lady!
So somewhere in the archives, there's probably a video of me dropping my pants for the folks in the airport to go along with Bill's casino footage... and with any luck, that little Asian lady is NOT now the Western Regional head of TSA or anything like that. ;)
