Store Coffee in Freezer ?

I've got many pounds of fresh ground coffee in the freezer. Also, instant coffee and tea bags. All of it stays brand new fresh when stored in the freezer....whether the packaging has been opened or not...

I only store what I buy on sale in the freezer. The bag I'm using I keep in the closet. Keeping it in the freezer and using it every day causes condensation to form on the beans when you open the container. That will affect the flavor.

I don't remember if this is good to do or not.

Hi,

I've seen "instructions" on the cans to do so, but have also heard a reputable source claim the oils in coffee contribute a lot to its flavor, and since oils/fats are affected by freezing, not to do so! Right back where we started, huh?

For myself, I just buy the stuff that's already ground and comes in a can or now a plastic jug. It stays there, in the cabinet, until opened. When I open it, I pour everything into large glass containers which then live in the refrigerator. Glass being flavor neutral, the coffee still retains whatever flavor it has straight from the sealed container from opening until running out.

I drink instant coffee only but not everyday. I keep it in the fridge and it last a long time in there.

Bring back a lot of Blue Mountain coffee from Jamaica..........freeze it all the time, never noticed one bit of difference up to a year later. Coogs.

Out of curiosity, what does Blue Mountain cost in Jamaica? Great coffee, but not worth what they charge around here.
