Stevens Favorite 1894 .22 LR in very good original condition. Half octagon/round barrel. The rifling is in excellent condition. Metal is very good with no major rust , pitts or dings and retains most of its bluing. The screws are clean. The stock has one fine hairline surface crack . The rest of the wood is in very good condition. The action locks up tight. A nice original clean rifle for restoration or kept original. I have a Favorite also. How do you determine the year of manufacture? I was under the impression that there are no records of these rifles any longer.

I have one as well. Mine has 3 digits on it and other markings. I dont remember since its been so long ago , but was able to figure out mine was from 1915.

This one is very tempting too! I may be wrong but believe this one may have been refinished at some point from the pictures but on one of these I think that is a plus...

Your right. Records were not well kept. It may be closer to 1914 because of its condition. A guess of 1898 put it in the middle. Legally this date stamp of 1894 can be declared as a antique.
They are neat and accurate little rifles and have the distinction of the most sold kids 22 rifle.

How is the bore in it? It comes from an era of corrosive primers. 8)
