SR556E vs SR556CLA

Looking into the sr556 line of AR's. I like the E model, but was wondering if the CLA model is worth the extra money? The only thing it really offers in my opinion are the chrome bolt and bore. Any input appreciated.

Yes, hard chromed bore and chamber, bolt and carrier. Plus- Sights, Hogue grip, 3 mags, parkerized barrel(E is black oxide). The CLA has their carbine barrel which is overall 16" with FS, turned down diameter forward of gas block, and fluted beneath the slim handguard.

Both are good, just what all options and how much do you wanna spend.

Its unfortunate the Ruger website doesn't tell yo more about this gun. Went to my local gun shop and they had and E and CLA.

The CLA has the "E" handguard, you get handguard covers and 3" rail sections to attach to the handguard where you want them.

Barrel, chamber, carrier are hard chrome plated, for extended life. You get the fold down sights. Big difference was it is far more livlier than the standard SR-556 with quad rail. Feels much ligher, and the barrel is fluted. The flash hider does not screw to the barrel, it is machined as part of the barrel. Some will like this, some not.

I paid the difference and am very happy!

Going to put a Magpul CTR stock on it, and then it will be perfect.

Does the CLA feel much different up front than the E model?

The CLA is a lot faster handling and more reactive in the hand. The .77 pound weight difference is all in the barrel/handguard assembly, which is also almost 2 inches shorter.

The gun handles much better than the standard model, my opinion of course :lol: :lol:
