Ive been running my SR40C quite a bit and I'm very pleased with it. The only issue I have is the thumb safety rubbing a raw spot on my hand. Does anyone know if the weapon will operate properly if it is removed? If so how do you remove it?

I am contemplating removing the right side safety button. It has really bit me a few times racking the slide. My only dislike of the gun.

I agree. I dont want to and will not cut it off. but I would like to remove it like I have the magazine disconnect. That way I would be able to replace it if I needed to send it in to the manufacturer. I really dont want to change my grip either since it is very similar to my grip on my other pistols. Unless it can safely be removed I guess I'll just have to suck it up.

You simply can't remove it (as a whole) since that is what holds the parts to the firing control housing in place.

Perhaps you can simply call Ruger up and BUY the said part (then report back to us how much it costs). Then you can mutilate that 2nd part to your liking, so you will always have an original.

What you are looking for is item #46 on the SR schematic. [part #VS15000 Thumb Safety Assembly]

While I'm positive the SR9/SR9c/SR40/SR40c share the same part #, ask to double check, since the SR40 slide is slightly wider than the 9mm equivalent.
