FYI, I'm doing a search with a specific UPC code, the same code that is on the gun I am considering buying. Some listings I'm finding show "Blackened Alloy"....a few show a photo of a black slide with stainless steel slide in the description. Must be an error...

Those adds are wrong, and they lead to the confusion. Some of the early SR9's were blackened stainless and that literature got out and confused the new blackened alloy steel literature that they now issue. Long story short, they are all alloy steel now and the plating should protect from corrosion, unless you manage to gouge thru it. It's pretty tough and most report no issues with that.
