SR 556 Bolt Carrier

I understand that young manufacturing made the first production bolt carriers for the SR 556. Does anyone know who currently makes them? I am trying to locate a fully shrouded version so the firing pin and cotter key pin do not get beat up. The one in the user manual is also shrouded. It would appear as if they made a M16 style carrier at one point.

you need to mainly be interested in the one with the beveled back side. It prevents the infamous carrier tilt. I have a relatively early SR556 and haven't experienced carrier tilt yet....

The SR556 is one of the BETTER designed Piston ARs on the market. Some of the other manufacturers have changed their designs to more closely resemble Ruger's current model. GO RUGER

I know the enlarged rear diameter combats this. I have also read that early models had bottom support rails rear of the tab the piston strikes, this was removed as well to allow the carrier to move as the piston creates a moment arm and the read cuts would dig into the lower section of the upper. My carrier works fine, I just see in the manual even and other sources, that they used to make a version just like mine, but would not have the firing pin exposed (99% of ar15's i see do not use this old colt SP1 style carrier).
