Spyderco!

I love the Spyderco brand of pocket folding knives. I must have over 30. Spyderco's budget line, Byrd, produces some incredible knives for not a lot of money. I have two that I carry alternately, depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing. The rest are in display cases, though I'm running out of room in them and will have to find a way to store more.

You are right. Spyderco makes some excellent knives and I also have many.

I’m a big fan. Carry a PM2 most every workday. When my oldest son earned his Eagle Scout rank, Sal (owner) sent him a letter congratulating him and a knife. Stand up company! My first Spyderco was in 1992.

I carry an Endura plain edge every day at home and a full Spyderedge one when out and about. I have a couple other Spyderco models but the Endura model is my go to choice.

I have two Spydercos', this one is my original I bought back in the 80's when they first came out or at least first got popular. I remember a lot of the police were getting them back then to carry. This one is a large knife, over 9" when open. I also have one that my uncle that passed away had. I believe it is called the Mariner. It is all stainless too.

Spyderco Delica 4 Stainless Steel saber grind. I had a Spyderco Worker saber grind back in the 80’s that I carried and used often. The weak spot was the blade tip that broke. I recently was going to replace it and found several on eBay, and some of them, too, had broken tips. I did some research and found that was a common fault with the Worker, and the research suggested the Delica 4 as an improvement of the Worker. I bought a Delica 4 saber grind, and really like it. I have had other Spyderco’s over the years, such as the Endura, and the Police model. Next to the Worker, the Delica 4 SS is my favorite. I will not buy another Worker for I do not like broken tips.

Yes sir.

I don't loan it to folks who actually need a screwdriver.

I have worn out 2 sharpeners over the years, it stays razor sharp.

Like I say, it's been a good one!!!

What kind of sharpeners have you used?

I use the original Lansky 3 stone set...

My first set, the stones just got so concave I bought a new set.
My second set needs replacement now... I do a few things...
1. I use good quality oil and have never had a stone quit cutting or clog up. I have had to glue a stone back in it's holder a time or two but that's no big deal for 10 plus years of use.
2. Once I set my rods in the stones, I never remove them. I built a box to store them in with the guide rods attached.
3. I am very particular about how I mount my knife in my holder. It is marked and mounted exactly the same every time.
4. I have a particular pattern for strokes per side and then flipping it over.

I also use my Lansky on a few other knives that see minimal use...

I bought a Spyderco folder years ago for almost nothing because it had a broken tip.
I called Spyderco and they said send it in they would fix it.
They sent me a brand new folder! Outstanding customer service.

My daily Micarta Cruewear PM2. Needs to be cleaned and sharpened but I use it and the edge last longer than any knife I’ve ever carried.
