Savage Model 23A, .22LR, bolt action w/ 1 magazine. It has a 23" barrel. S/N is 125XXX. This rifle is in fantastic condition, I could not find any rust on it, bluing is 99+. The stock is great (could be refinished easily if you wanted to). Bore is excellent.

I've never understood how the clip comes out. How is it released?

You push forward on the thumb screw head and the magazine drops out. In the mag well, in front of the magazine is a spring that holds it in place when inserted.
