See corrections on this gun a few posts down. Looks like a Lipsey's exclusive International (RSI) model that has had the stock changed.
I'm not really up to speed on Ruger rifles but I think the Hawkeye Compact is only made in 3 calibers; .243, .308, and 7mm-08. The .308 and 7mm-08 seem to be available in two configurations, blue/walnut or stainless/laminate. But the .243 only appears in the stainless/laminated stock model. Compact rifle with 16.5" barrel. Pretty close to new condition with a couple minor blemishes on the stock, the worst is on the tip of the fore end as shown (looks like it brushed against something painted white, maybe a fence). Comes with the sling as shown. Also comes with the stainless rings (not shown). The rings are currently mounted on a black scope that doesn't really go with the stainless gun, but if the buyer is interested in the scope, it can be had for an additional $100 (it is a Burris Fullfield II 3X-9X 40mm and still has the warranty tag on it, and other papers with it). I will leave the rings on the scope until I know which way the sale goes. I'm not sure if the previous owner ever actually had the scope on the gun. He traded this rig to me toward a rare Ruger revolver, saying he was going a different direction with his Ruger hobby. Rifle comes with the manual but no box. The end label from the box is stuck on the front of the manual as shown. These stainless laminate Compact Hawkeyes have a MSRP of $1069, so a realistic retail price for a new one would be about $875.

You might be onto something. The distributor pics of the compact laminate don't have sights. And the label stuck on the manual says 18.5" barrel. If you measure rifle barrels all the way back to the back of the chamber, this one is 18.5". I was measuring back to about where I thought the rifling started and figured that as the 16.5" per the Compact. I'm a little out of my element with long guns
