SPF FS Mark X Interarms 243

Interarms Mark X 243. This is a Mark X action with a 243 barrel, no sights. Action is drilled and tapped for both scope and reciever sights. Barrel is app. 20 inches long. There is a mark on the bottom of the barrel near the muzzle, that I have tried to show in the photo. You'll have to click on the link. I put too many pictures in this post. Otherwise the barrel and action have nice clean, deep bluing typical of the Mark X's. The stock is an expresss style with the shadowline check piece and a Whitworth recoil pad. Although, it looks like one, I do not believe this is an American Field series gun, as there are no sights on the barrel and the barrel is 20 rather than 24 inches. But it looks nice and handles nicely. The stock has the groove for a side push release button on the trigger guard, but the floor plate has the thumb release. There are a few marks on the bottom metal in front of the floor plate. The screws on the bottom metal appear to be replacements. The rifle is a 243 and not a caliber I care for. I did pack it in sandbags and fire a couple rounds from my collection. Headspace was OK, so I shot a couple more rounds from the shoulder. I did not have a scope on it, so have no idea how it shoots. I was going to rebarrel it to 22 250, but there are a couple of 22 centerfires already sitting around not being shot, so have lost interest in the project. $375 plus shipping.

by "reciever sights" do you mean holes in the barrel near the action? if so, is it possible the barrle was cut at some time? Pics of the reciever and barrel would help. Interested.

I think you have a mix-n-match put together.

The receiver is drilled on the right side. You can see the filler screw heads in the second photo. The barrel does not appear to be set back.
As I said, I don't think this rifle was an original American Field Series, although I am no expert. I have been told that Interarms sometimes put things together that did not match catalog listings. I cannot say whether this is an original Interarms or a put together, either way it is a nice and handy rifle.

I have one very similar, mine has the same stock and is 243 also but mine has the open sights I think and longer barrel. Mine also come with a Timney trigger which was a nice plus. I have had it for a few years know and I like it alot it is great for whitetails and coyotes.
