Very early 1st year production Mark I "Red Eagle" T678 semi-auto .22 Long Rifle Target pistol. #15485, made in 1951. Very nice condition for a 62 year old pistol! The Red Eagle medallion is nice & sharp. There is some blue loss on the sharp edges and left tip of the muzzle. There a few tiny scratches, a little freckling and one corrosion spot on the receiver just above the serial number (Tried to picture all the flaws). $765 delivered FFL to FFL. Money Order or US Bank Cashiers Check. Sorry, no CA sales. Please feel free to ask me any questions. The first I'll take followed up with a PM gets this very desirable fine collectible early Ruger target model!

SOLD!

Thanks, Bill

Bill, I will take it. PM follows. MIKE

Mike!!! That's not a Hawkeye!!! Congratulation of one fine piece of Ruger history. You don't find them like that very often. I'm sure the "Girls" will find a place in the safe for it.

Dr. Street, Thanks for the encouragement! Yes, I have been foolish in the past and walked away or sold at least a couple of these, probably pursuing other forms of madness. There is a pair of early T514 here, along with SN 480 early Red Eagle, a US marked last variation T678 and a small SN 3XXXXX T678, and as you may recall, the Mark II That Ray Viramontez engraved for Steve Vogel's presentation by the RCA. If I get off my duff, perhaps a display is in order for the Fall MWCA show. It continues to amaze me that so many forget that these early autos were the foundation of Sturm Ruger and preceded any other Ruger firearms by nearly five(5!!) years, aka 1949 to very late 1953. Of course, these Rascals will continue to be sidekicks to the RSSE Stalwarts, and vastly outnumbered by the Hawkeye girls......All the Best, MIKE 8)
******!
Almost forgot: my notes say I should pursue a lettered T514 that belonged to Fred Davis. Think I better get going on that! I think it is still up here in the -5 degrees windchilled NNW! :D A good thing that I did not attend that over priced auction yesterday!

Bill, funds and FFL copy are in the mail and on the way! :D

You would not believe the accuracy of these 1st Red Eagle Mark I's. I got one many years ago; it had enough use that I did not mind shooting it. I could hit a soda can at 100 yards at the range-from a rest- once I figured out the sight picture. Just like Elmer shooting that mule deer at 600 yards with his .44 Magnum! There are too few of these left and everybody ought to have just one!

Wish I had not been out in the swamp this afternoon. Nice gun!

For those who may be new to these early guns, this is a 3 digit gun. MK1s started 15000.
