Single six with a ribbed barrel?

Looks like a Pachmyr add on rib. I won’t say common, but it had a following years ago.

Those were made by Poly Choke, very popular in the early1980's.

They were made from aluminum & anodized, glue on with a dense viscosity material that was close to silicone.

Hate to admit it but I like the look. The grips look out of place with the vented rib.

I’m with you two… kind of. Maybe. A litle bit. But I’m not sure!

Kind of an acquired taste, maybe?

I’ve got a couple stashed away for Ruger MK II pistols.

“Someday,” I’m going stick the ribs on a couple of MK IIs, add some wild target grips, and build my own “Ruger Medalist” pistols.

I’ve loved the Browning Medalist ever since I saw my first one. “Too rich for my blood,” I thought. Turns out, they don’t seem to have come down in price, in the last 30 years… who knew?
