I will be sighting in a few rifles and was wondering if the barrel should be cold/warm/hot? Should I shoot 5, 10, 15 rds before settling in to sight the rifle? Comments appreciated.

If you are going to use the rifle for target shooting, like National Match or rattle battle, a couple of sighters would be appropriate, as fouling shots. Hunting, you are interested in the first cold bore shot. It is good to try both clean and dirty barrel shots cold. If a clean, cold bore shoots far away from a cold but fouled bore, you need to know that. Every rifle barrel is a law unto itself.
