Hey guys. I have a Sig P6, one of the European surplus guns that came in a few years ago. Its very accurate and dependable as you would expect. I have found though, that this pistol does not seem to like cast bullets. The groups are at least twice as large as with FMJ and recoil seems more too. Put FMJ's in there of the same weight and the pistol is a real champ. I can shoot FMJ and cast equally well out of my P95. Do Sigs not get along with cast bullets in general? I can't imagine that the Swiss designers in the 1970's ever imagined the pistol would see lead bullets!!

It might be your bullet sizing. European 9mm's usually have large bores like the Beretta 92 at .358 instead of the usual .355

Mine shoots 124 grain .355's just fine, as it does all the other 9MM rounds. No difference whatsoever in accuracy. All 9MM rounds are spectacularly accurate.

I have a Taurus PT-908 that doesn't like cast bullets as well. At 7 yds about half the holes are elongated with the cast bullets, some appeared to impact almost completely sideways. Never saw one elongated hole when using jacketed bullets and accuracy is good with them. Don't know if it is the fact they are cast, or that they are heavier bullets.

Sounds like the diameter is wrong on the bullets Chuck. You may want check them and make sure. The other thing is you could be pushing them too hard, check your loads. Are these hard cast bullets?

They are reloads I purchased from a guy locally. I suspect that you are right and they are small in diameter. Kinda hard to measure in a case, but the nose measures several thousands less than the jacketed loads that shoot very well. Supposed to be hard cast and do appear to be pretty hard alloy. I only have a small number of them left and will certainly not buy more. Whatever they are, they don't work well for me.

More likely too big in diameter, you should stop shooting them, now.

Go to the Sigforum & read up on the polygonal rifling that the SIGs use, They aren't recomended to shoot lead non jacketed bullets just like Glocks & Hks as well..

Also clean that barrel good with a bronze brush or maybe try a bit of "Chore-Boy" copper scrubber wrapped around an old cleaning brush to help clean the lead from the low spots in the polygonal rifling..

Pretty sure Sigs use standard rifling unless it's something new to me.

I with you Cheese, my 2022 has standard rifling.

I too have a P6. Like others have mentioned, the barrel is fairly large in diameter. I size my lead to .358 and get great accuracy and no leading.

My challenge is finding loads that work in both the SIG and CZ75 (which, on the other hand is VERY tight in both the barrel and chamber).
