Should I get a SR22?

I currently have an SR9c for CCW and a SR9 for home defense. I was thinking of getting a .45 for CCW but not sure (a little out of my price range right now too), and wondered if I should go the other way and get a SR22 to shoot for fun.

Is there any reason to get a .22 in general?

.22LR is much less expensive than center fire reloads.
Shoot alot, get training, shoot some more.

Thats the reason I bought an SR22, it is cheap to shoot. I take my SR40C to the range and generally put about 50 rounds through it, then i break out the SR22 PISTOL and put about 500 rounds through it. It is a lot cheaper to shoot so I can shoot it more

Maybe this is a dumb question, but do the techniques practiced shooting the .22 really transfer to a 9mm or higher? To me once you start increasing recoil, they wouldn't.

But I've only been shooting a few months so I don't know much.

I don't care for the sr22's size, it too small. Im waiting for the s&w m&p22 to work out the bugs before buying, its the same size as the 9mm's.

I think the SR22 is similar in size to the SR9c, so no big issue there for me.

I had a Walther P22 which looks very similar to the SR22. Nice little guns, fun for plinking, etc. However, once we got a MKII it was more enjoyable to shoot for accuracy and the P22 went bye-bye.

Around here 525 rounds of Federal 22LR costs you about $20.00. Cheap fun.

Everyone should have a SR22p, they are accurate, dependable and just plain fun to shoot. My Sr22p and SP101-22 always go to the range with me, picked up 5 extra mags to make it even more fun.

Had a P22, sold it to get an SR22. SR22 beats it hands down on quality. Both were equally fun to shoot, but the P22 was very picky about ammo. The SR22 could care less after the first 30-40 rounds loosened it up.

I bought the SR22 for all the reasons stated above. In addition, I have a 9 yo that I want to introduce to pistol shooting basics/safety/fundamentals and this gun is perfect for that.

Would the Mark III be a better one than the SR22? I went and looked at a SR22 and it was even smaller than I thought.

Bought my SR22 for the same exact reason cheap to shoot after I shoot up all the big rounds for the day at the range, gives me lots of cheap practice, the gun is on the small side so I shoot it one handed and at 25 yards it is easy to put them in the black, it can be a little picky about ammo, but other than that have never had any problems with mine. also the easiest gun I have ever owned to clean.

I agree that everyone should own one.I bought mine in june and have about five thousand rounds through it.The p22 just stays in the house.It is a great little gun.

My SR22P goes to the range every time.My bigger bore handguns go on a rotating basis,and with a lot less ammo.

Yes! Loads of shooting fun and inexpensive. When you can shoot 500 rounds of 22 vs 50 rounds of 9mm for about the same price, why not. I have target 22s that I enjoy but recently added an SR22. What a kick! Had I not gotten the SR22 it would have been the 22/45 Lite. My buddy got a Lite and it too is a kick!

Now this part will go over like a lead balloon, but the 22 is also very lethal. So you'd have a great range fun shooter plus a super CCW back up. Or a CCW for the wife.

I have a 22/45 Talo 4.5" slab side that gets shot alot, I actually prefer it to my 5.5" Target model, shorter, faster, lighter, well I don't know about faster,lol but it does get shot more than the Target gun.

The SR22 is great. Lots of fun and certainly cheaper. It is great for the kids. It was a little picky for me with the ammo. CCI's work great but the Winchester white box had trouble.
