Should I avoid 1st production run on sr40c?

I just checked the Ruger site and all of the dimensions are exactly the same as the SR9. When I ordered my SR40 I also ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB holster for it. The Crossbreed website did not have the SR40 as an option for guns so I chose the SR9 as the gun for the holster that I ordered and sent them a message advising them that it was for the SR40. The holster fit my gun perfectly. I checked their website the other day and they have the SR9c listed but not the SR40c so I guess the SR9c version should fit the SR40c. I will have the SR40c by February maybe sooner.

In a word...NO! :!: Although a new calibre in that configuration, the gun is based upon a design a couple of years old, and otherwise proven.

Your username pretty well commits you to owning one. How long can you wait? :wink:

My choice is to never buy the first production of any new product. Not interested in being a beta tester.

and a related question. Does Ruger stand behind their non written warranty?

How about on units where the owner could have removed the mag safety. or installed a trigger job? I am guessing on those issues, no manufacturer would honor the warranty.

Sorry for such newbie questions.

I'd say go for it. After the SR9 initial issues, the SR9c and the SR40 have been perfect outta the box.

Ruger 100% stands behind their warranty (and then some in some cases - see the article in the lounge). As for after having work done - I believe it would depend on the work and then they'd probably only touch the factory components.

I have read posts in the past by people that sent pistols with trigger jobs in for work. Some of them reported that when they got their pistols back they had been returned to their stock configuration. If you have to send a pistol in that you have aftermarket parts in I would probably return it to stock before I sent it.
