Have you looked into the Speed-Six? It is basically the same gun as the service six but with the round butt. The security, service and speed six guns are great older pieces. They can be found in snubbie barrel lengths too. Built like a tank and feel better, in the hand, than most S&W's do (at least to me). One other thing to mention is that the "six series" of Rugers can be found at prices that don't really reflect their value (and I mean that from a buyer's-market vantage point). I bought a LNIB, stainless, Service Six, with a 4" barrel, just last week for only $350. It's not uncommon to find them for as little as $275 right now too. You just have to look around a bit for them. I like the service six way better than my 357/38 Smiths. Just food for thought. Once you put one in your hand you will know what I mean.....on the spot.
