Anyone here scope their 458 win mag or Lott !?
What scope do you use or reccomend?
200 yard shots MAX. 100yard shots and under the norm. ...

Has to be a rugged scope with long eye relief. I have a Leupold VX-2 1x4 on my .458 Win. mag. and a Nikon Omega 3x9 on my .458 Lott.

I have a Nikon Pro-Staff 2X7 on my #1 458. It has good eye relief and seems reasonably tough so far. Parallax is set a 75 yards and that seems to work well, though I have used it (not for game) up to 200 yards.

Same for me - pretty sure it's a shotgun scope, I really don't notice the shorter parallax. If you get a shotgun scope just be careful about the reticle. Some shotgun scopes have a very thick reticle and it may seem like an OK trade off, but they're too thick for general target shooting.

I don't have a .458, but on one of my .375 H&H rifles I have a Leupold VX-R 1.25-4x (30mm tube) with duplex reticle. Nice glass for reasonable cost - clarity is excellent; 4x adequate for the longer shot; and it has generous eye relief. If I had a .458 that's what I'd use. JMHO.

Yes, the model I have is marketed as a shotgun scope. The 200 yard shooting was at a 8-10 inch gong and I didn't notice any problems with the parallax either (the gong did though).

I've used two with great results.
1. Leupold 2.5X Fixed.
2. Leupold 1.5x5 Vari X III

Both have excellent eye relief and straight tube objectives.

I have a Nikon 2-7X on my No. 1 in .458 Win. Can't concentrate if I think I'm going to get the scope into my eyebrow, so I position the scope so that I have to stretch a little to get a good field of view and I don't get issues with the scope occular lens. Don

I put a Leupold Scout Scope on My 458 Lott...

Kudu (approx. 45 yards)...

Gemsbok (approx. 75 yards)...

Zebra (approx. 55 yards)...

Waterbuck (approx. 180 yards)...

Nyala (approx. 15 yards)...

Yep...that set-up works alright!!! (Ruger No.1, Leupold Scout Scope, Barnes 350gr TSX)...

Leupold 1.5x5 in a QD mount. You see this scope frequently on large caliber bolt rifles in Africa.
