For sale/cash only: vintage (1959) Ruger Old Model (3-screw) Blackhawk .44 Magnum with 6 1/2" barrel

Description: This is a vintage Ruger Old Model Blackhawk chambered for .44 Magnum with a 6 1/2" barrel. This is the original Ruger .44 Magnum, made from 1956-1962. It was replaced by the substantially larger Super Blackhawk, but the original Blackhawks have a very dedicated following because of their superior handling, balance and quality. There were approximately 29,000 of these made during the six year production period.

This Blackhawk has been converted by Ruger so that it is safe to carry with six chambers loaded, but it includes the original parts (returned by Ruger with the revolver) to convert it to its original configuration. Note that unconverted Old Model Rugers are unsafe to carry with six chambers loaded due to the possibility of an unintended discharge.

This Blackhawk is "shooter grade." It shows general use and wear, including a turn line on the cylinder, two places on the cylinder where the bluing shows wear, and dings on the front sight and ramp. (The rest of the cylinder looks great, I've shown the two areas that have finish wear in the pictures below.) The bluing on the loading gate has a purple tone, which is very common for factory-original Blackhawks.

Price/Selling Terms/Location: $775 + $40 FedEx shipping from MA. USPS money order only, no PayPal, no trades. For state law reasons the outbound transfer will be made from a MA-licensed dealer. As we all know, everything that involves a dealer these days takes some time, so please be aware that the dealer's shipping turnaround will not be within my control. :( For the same reason, although not required, turnaround time will be faster if you can include an ink-signed FFL copy with payment rather than using fax or online FFL verification.

The following pictures show the cylinder in each of its six positions. As you can see, there are
a couple of marks on the finish; other cylinders are cosmetically perfect.

Were the internal parts changed for safety reasons, or because there was a problem with trigger or hammer or other parts in the old model parts group? Thanks, Hank

Unknown, this came to me converted.

Was this refinished at the time of conversion?

Unknown, the gun came to me converted - but I do not believe it was refinished - the purple loading gate seems to me to be a strong sign that the finish is original, but I cannot say for sure.

Sad to move this along - it shoots like a laser. It's going to a good home. :)
