I have this desire to try a scope or red dot optic on my Mk.1. The only one I can find available is a Sun Optics. What are your thoughts? I really desire something top notch. Dave

I will be watching this thread with interest. I also have a Mark I that I have thought seriously about mounting a red dot to. Would rather not have the gun drilled.

Have also thought about the same thing for my Smith model 10. The no drill mounts for it are pricey, and obscene looking.

I was talking to the guy at the LGS and he told me I could probably get by nicely with a lower cost red dot for the Mark. Between being a .22, and an internal slide, the scope would not be subject to a lot of jarring on recoil.

The biggest down side to doing this for my Mark is the non availability of .22 ammo. I reload 9 and .38, but am at the mercy of the market for .22 right now.

Thanks Clovishound for the reply here. I haven't seen one or held one in person but do see them for sale. I would like to have something made in North America. I do believe that B-Square may make one. I have seen adverts and photos and they look clean and neat. It appears they clamp on the receiver. Being in Canada poses a problem because most suppliers in the USA refuse to ship here even though there are no export laws against scope mounts. So, I thought I would ask for advise here as I should think many here have gone this route. I am not looking for cheap as much as I am quality and function. I am hoping some of the regulars here will be along soon. You mention 22 ammo. It is interesting that I can get any amount I need here! Dave

Here's another one:

No idea how good any of them are. I like the look of the Wigand, but don't like having to remove the rear sight, although the reviews on the second one say you have to remove either the front or back sight in order to slide it on.

Clovishound, it does not look like we are going to get much help here. I have decided to buy the B-Square no drill. The optics are another matter. I will cross that bridge when I get there. Holosight, red dot, many others to consider. I will let you know how I make out. Dave

After reading a little deeper into the reviews on the b square, I see that many were able to attach the mount without removing the sights.

Be interested in seeing what your experience with this will be. Keep us posted.
