Stock is in nice used/hunted condition. There is one small mark near the grip and the clear is flaking on the black tip. The flaking of the clear at the tip, seems to be common on these for some reason. The mark near the grip is very minor and appears to be just in finish.

Not a ton of these guns were produced by Ruger and these stocks are pretty hard to come by.

Just to clarify, this is a factory stock from a Tang Safety M77 with 20” pencil barrel and to my knowledge will not fit M77 MK-II’s.

My memory sez it is a 270 or 3006 cal rifle stock for the sighted short barrel rifles done for Buckeye Sports back in the early 90's......There were also walnut stocked versions and the other short action calibers were 243/308.......Recall that there were 300 of each, total of 2400 rifles..........Superb "carry in brush" rifles! 8)

Yes, the 77RL & RLS models were in DZ and BZ....I do believe that is DZ, M77RLS-DZ, Desert camo.

I’m suspecting it would need some barrel channel work. The 20” RL/RLS barrels are pretty slim in profile.

I realize it's for a hunting rifle and will probably get banged up again, but is there a way to refinish that tip so it isn't
quite so noticeable? I have an Ultralight RLS in .270 Win., and that stock would work perfectly.

I would think you could sand off the finish on the tip, tape off the bottom edge and either spray or wipe on clear on the black. That was my plan at least!

I would think it would be very simple, but I am by no means a restorer!

That's what I was thinking, too. Doable, but I don't really have the tools to do that properly.
