I happily paid $850 for my tang-safety Model 77R in .250 w/o scope, about 2 years ago - and it was made in 1975, not '76.

Since everything Ruger made in 1976 was so stamped, I don't attach much extra value to one - although YMMV.

A couple of days ago a really nice 6mm Liberty 77R with rings sold on Gunbroker for $700.00. A .250 Liberty 77R sold here a good while back. I do not remember the asking price but a search may bring it up but people usually delete the asking and/or the selling price after the sale. I also do not remember if it included the rings, but it was not as pristine as the 6mm but I think it sold for a little more after sitting here a while. I know that .250 Rugers bring a premium and rightfully so.

Condition is very important. Also, if it is an RS (sights and rings) in good condition it could well go over a grand. An early 71- prefix .250 RS round bolt sold on Gunbroker for $1000.00 in "well used" condition a year or so back.

I think I paid $285 for my Liberty 250 Sav, about 30 years ago. NFS. I paid $500 for a non Liberty 77R 250 3 years ago, and $450 for another same R77 non Liberty 15 years ago.
Consider a premium fitted barrel and count it good. My Shilen barrel 250 Savage Ackley Improved is incredibly accurate.

Well Alan, inflation has reared it's ugly head! I assume your non Liberty 250s are round bolts also. Not a ton of flat bolt .250s out there. But some.

Yep, just push feed round bolts, except for the 77 Mark II I fit a Shilen barrel to. Too bad more 250 Savages aren't out there, what a great little round. That said, I've always wondered why a commercial 25-08 has not been produced.
BTW: I sold the $500 77R in 250 as I just did not need it, and also bought a 77RL (ultralite) in 1983. Sold it too for some reason I don't remember now.
I like the ones others overlook, such as my other 'favorite' round, the 358 Winchester.
