Posting to see if anyone has seen any other examples. These recently came up for sale on ebay.

The story goes that these were prototype business card holders made up for Ruger when they reached the 50th Anniversary 1999.
The shop owner stated that they were received from a Ruger Executive who stated they were rejected by Ruger. I ask if they could remember who the REO was but they could not.

These are NOT cheaply made, thus I believe the cost to be the reason Bill rejected them. They are beautiful case's that are tastefully hand
engraved and polished so well that I have been unsuccessful in trying to take more pictures, so I had to post the actual pic's from bay.

The first one pictured was the 1st one offered for sale, I missed the boat on it and I believe it went to a West Coast forum member.

The 2nd one pictured I did manage to buy.

1st Case,

2nd Case,

sorry, have never seen any, and the fact there is the copyright logo also cut into the from cover, lends a bit a "legitimacy" ( at least they were trying to follow copyright laws), BUT the licensing and final say so is Rugers, so unless someone steps forward, it is what it is "Ruger lore" ...there was LOTS and LOTS of stuff made for the anniversary (all of them in fact) but I would "like to think" if they were legit, there would have ben 'something' said or announced by now, 14 years later........

Thanks Dan & Rod,
The Trade Mark cut into both of them is what peaked my interest too. The shop is located in New Hampshire, so I thought I might get lucky and someone out there with factory ties just might know a thing or two about them. Never know,, Like Dan stated there were many things made and rejected by the old man over they years that will never be documented, just "Ruger lore" but this stuff still gets my attention :)

OH yes, collectors , as well as many "non" collectors have and will buy ANYTHING 'marked' Ruger, seen it happen back in the late 70's and early 80's at any and all of the Ruger theme shows, grab it all, then figure and sort things out...look a the patches, ANYBODY with a computerized embroidering machine can make ANYTHING ( and they do!!)
same goes for having things "monogramed ( engraved) again, folks with friends at the local "Things Remembered" can auto engrave ANYTHING ...........
we've been waiting to see one of the on-line folks start to sell "fake" Ruger boxes, look the Colt ones, made in China, for pennies a piece, and the fakes are pushing over $100, boxes, foil end labels, paper work ( manuals) all being 'reproduced' now :(

anyway, Terry, those cases still look real good to me

ARGH! I tried again and missed! You, you, you..... Just remember me in your will. ;)

SHUCKS, for a while way back when all the gun companies had those and were giving them away, or at least I was given mine by the CEO. Mine is from S&W and is my ID holder, DL, CCW, INS #'s etc etc. I have seen them from Colt, SR, and S&W.
