ruger LCP .... yet another question

been needing a pocket pistol and looking hard at the LCP, my P95 too big!

can someone tell me if this gun has a slide lock once the mag is mty? on the you tube videos Ive seen it doesnt appear to have this

there is a manual slide stop. The slide will NOT lock open when you fire the last round in the magazine. if you want it locked open you must do it by hand.

Is a slide lock on the last shot that important?? The smallest glock doesn't come close to this size.
So either you want the ultimate in concealed pistols or not, either this or one of the others like the P3at.
But I can't imagine what a slide lock would have to do with not choosing one. :roll:
It's not a quick reload range pistol. It's a speciality gun that is meant to save your life. Sort of like a flare gun.
It's not made to be used much except in emergencies and it certainly isn't less effective just because of a lock on the slide.
Sort of like saying you won't buy a Mercedes convertible because it can't go 4 wheeling.

Another good choice is the Taurus TCP .380. It's about the same size and weight as the LCP, comes with two magazines and has a slide lock on the last round. I've had both and find both guns excellent. I ended up trading the TCP for a Taurus 740 Slim .40S&W because I didn't need two mouseguns.

Automatic slide locks can be problematic. I've had a couple pocket pistols with slide locks, and both have engaged when there were rounds left in the gun. I corrected the problem, but it can happen.
For my money, the LCP is the most reliable of the pocket rockets.

I'll second that opinion, my LCP has been trouble free. At this point I have fired about 1000 rounds through it. The only time I had any problem at all wasn't the gun's fault. A batch of my handloads were insufficiently crimped which allowed the bullets in the magazine to be pushed back a bit in the shells under the jolt of recoil which caused the brass case mouth to catch on the loading ramp. An adjustment of my crimp die cured that problem.

My LCP with Crimson Trace has been flawless and I would NOT want a slide lock

I don't think a slide lock is necassary on a pocket pistol, but to each there own. I will say that my LCP has function flawlessly. The only issue I've had is that my wife decided she needed it as her carry pistol and now I don't have one.

Other than it being to appealing to my wife I would highly recommend it.

I'll be the 6th. My LCP is so reliable that it's kind of boring, it has functioned perfectly on every type of ammo I've fed it. It's also way more accurate than I expected such a tiny gun to be, w/crude sights designed not to snag on clothing.

People on gun boards deride the "lowly" .380, but I have yet to see anybody offer to go downrange & take a few rounds....

Look hard at the LC9. I had the same problem as you describe and bought the LCP. What a great little auto, but I always felt a little under gunned. I then bought a LC9, wow what a great little pistol. I found it shot anything I fed it without a hic-up, accurately, I can keep them all on a silhouette target at 25 yds. You need to cut that down to 15 yds if you want rapid fire. I consider myself an adequate shot, but needed to reduce that another five yrds when I went to one hand from the draw and rapid fire. The slide locks back on an empty mag, and it also has a safety similar to the 1911 mdl. It is only slightly larger then an LCP. If I had to say something I didn't like about it I would say the long trigger pull. It even fits some of my holsters I bought for the LCP, and hides in a front pant pocket. A serious caliber from a solid little pistol.
