I have acquired a older #1 in 45-70 that is in need of a polish and reblue.Has anyone had this done by Ruger and were you happy with the results? Thanks for any info.

Be sure thay the rifle has no after market work -- trigger adjustments, stock rebedding, serious recoil pad --- before you send it to Ruger. They abhor such improvements and may refuse to work on an altered rifle or reverse them before returnig the rifle to you.

I sent the barreled action from a No. 1 RSI into Ruger for the polish/reblue service... For what I sent them and what I got back, I was very pleased with the results.

I don't remember exactly what I paid, but I know I was pleased with the cost/results factor. I was also very pleased with the communication Ruger had with me. They called when they were ready to work on it to verify the work order. They called when things weren't coming out and wanted to know if I wanted them to proceed (what i sent them was really beyond a simple polish/reblue). They also emailed me when the rifle was en-route to me after the work had finished.

But yes, well worth the cost IMO..

I had Ruger re-barrel and re-blue an old #1 in 7x57. Very satisfied with the work. It's a tack driver and looks great. Less than 3 weeks turn around.
