I was looking at the AR556 on Ruger's website and saw that they now have a LE MODEL #8580. What is the difference between the 8500 and the 8580? The spec's both look the same. They look alike. What am I missing here?

I see no difference, but just maybe the 8580 model is stamped, LE ONLY, so if and when the time comes, mere possession could be prima facie evidence of civilian or non-LEO possession of a controlled product. Not much different than when high cap magazines were marked LE ONLY.

Also LE ONLY markings could be a requirement for export to countries not allowing such a weapon in the hands of civilians.
