Ruger 45 ACP revolver?

First, forgive my lack of revolver knowledge. I once shot a S&W revolver chambered in 45 ACP and it was a joy to shoot. May have been a 25-2 from looking at photos on Gunbroker. Did Ruger ever make a similar 45 ACP dedicated revolver? (I see the convertibles)

Nope...just convertibles.... I'd really like to have a GP100 in 45acp. or 44 spl. or 45 Colt...it would be a five shooter...the S&W 625 is built on a N frame...

Ruger never made a double action in .45acp, but they recently did make a dedicated .45acp Birdshead Vaquero with a 3 3/4" barrel. Example below.

Of course you can always have an Alaskan or a Redhawk in .45 Colt modified to also accept .45acp ammo.

IMO Ruger manufacturing any 5 shot big bore on the GP100 frame is unlikely. A 4” or 5.5” .45 ACP RH on the other hand would only require a different cylinder, so we can hope for one.

To the original poster, you choices in DA .45 ACP revolvers are old or new S&Ws, pre-WWII Colts, and 5 shot Taurus mid-frames.

Colt’s New Service frame .45 ACPs are over priced, go out of time if shot a lot, very difficult to find parts for and it’s hard to find a gunsmith willing repair them.

Shooter grade S&W 25-2s fetch $800 in my area. I think Ruger should have noticed the demand for DA .45 ACPs years ago, but they don‘t ask me what to make.

I think I would buy a six shot 45 acp Redhawk with a 4 or 5 inch barrel. Hopefully it would use moon clips similar to the ones formerly used for 9mm SP101s.

I would like a DA Ruger revolver in .45 ACP also, but not sure what the market would be for one. I do have S&W 625 and 325 revolvers. Here is my 325. I think S&W still make it with the Scandium and Aluminum alloy frame, but not sure it has the Titanium cylinder in it anymore.

By the way, I don't think Taurus makes .45 ACP revolvers anymore. I have a couple in my shooty collection. They are 5 shot and you can feed them with the hard to find Taurus 5 shot moonclips. The top one, a Tracker model is SS and the bottom one is a Totally Titanium model, although the lockwork parts are steel and it does have a SS insert in the barrel.

I had cylinder work done to my 4 inch redhawk to accept moon clips. work done via TK Customs. Now it will shoot 45 acp and 45 colt. 6 rounds 45 acp out of the redhawk are like 22lr very sweet indeed.
