Ruger 38cal OSS issue

I am looking for info on a 38cal. auto. special issue for the OSS. Approximately 2000 were built for the OSS @1938-1940. If anyone has any info I would like to hear it. I have located one that has never been fired and would like to know more about it before I go any further with it.

Who is the OSS? Ruger didnt make any guns until the late 40's. More info?

Gun sounds like a Colt .380. Try the Colt forum http://www.coltforum.com/

There are guys there who could probably look at the serial number and tell you the final assembler's mother's maiden name.
