UPDATE: 4/25/2013
CAUTION - CAUTION - BoonDocks received my payment and sent my SR1911 out on 4/16/2013 but they sent it by regular us mail ( I'm talking about letter carrier ) and the delivery date is May 3, 2013. Anything sound wrong about this deal? 19 days on the road with the post office, $20.00 shipping charge for this sad service. I have never heard of a gun not being sent at least priority mail. I guess once they received their $$ from me nothing else mattered, not even their customer service. This is dead wrong!!

Scott, I did talk to Shawn and he must have thought it was a little bit funny, he laughed a little and basically let me know -
oh well it is what it is. I don't believe he thinks very much of our internet group. I told him that a lot of his business probably
came from our Ruger Forum and he said that none of his business was based on the internet sales. Hum, sounds a little strange
to me. I give them a flat 0 on customer relations & service. They gave my SR1911 Commander to a postal service letter carrier
to deliver from Alaska to Myrtle Beach, S.C. - sent out on April 16 with a delivery date of May 3, 2013. The USPS has problems
delivering mail without tearing it to pieces, what are they going to do with a gun for 19 days. Honestly, Scott didn't seem to care
one way or the other. My gun My problem. Don't think I'll be buying there again. No thank you.

Galaxiedan - They seemed nice and friendly to me also and i'm sure they don't treat every customer as they have treated me. Their rating is kind of low and I should have paid more attention to their reviews. Scott really seems like a very nice person but I think BoonDocks would probably benefit greatly by sending him back to school for another refresher course in customer relations and customer service. I still don't understand how it's possible to accidently screw up like that. Very strange.
I'm glad you received your pistol ok and I bet you can't wait to try it out. Very nice 1911 and at a great price too.

I personally like Boondocks a great deal. Fair folks with great inventory and very fair prices. They are a bit old school without much Internet presence and do not take credit/debit cards, but would certainly not say they are lacking in care for their customers.

Here though you have a problem that cannot be fixed. Once shipped, they cannot un-ship it. Priority to or from Alaska with modest insurance will run you $35-$40. You might be able to get parcel post for $20. I always specific that I want priority because parcel post takes 3-4 weeks depending on when its sent.

As an aside, fed-ex or UPS will run you appx $110-ish for a handgun and modest insurance.

The issues here seems like a snafu or miscommunication in shipping method--although it sounds like you paid for the slower parcel post. It's unfortunate, but once sent, notice can be done. Sorry you had a sour first experience with Boondocks--they are good folks to deal with face-to-face. One of the few spots you can always find a good selection of powder, ammo, and supplies.

wildwillalaska, I can live with their screw up but it makes it a lot harder to swallow when you get the I don't care attitude
instead of customer service. Shawn is the one I ordered from and he said it was suppose to be shipped priority mail, if
$20.00 doesn't cover that then he should have said more. Terrible service!!

If that time frame is correct, it means either slow boat or semi truck down the Alaskan Highway. I assume that all mail flies out of Alaska, not on ships or trucks to the lower 48. Not exactly true, only what BoonDocks is telling you. thewiz828 ordered the same 1911 from BoonDocks about 3 months ago
and paid to have it shipped priority mail, it also was sent out regular USPS (letter carrier) and when he contacted BoonDocks they told him basically to stop whining. There is no telling how many times they are doing this and for what reason, you can't screw up but so many times and use the same excuse. They have horrible uncaring CS.

All shipments are sent priority flat rate, 5-7 days at best, I'm a retired mailman, I know, now, if BD ships less then that they say they do? that's a different story.
4-16 to 5-3, thats not Priority mail, let's wait and see how it shows up and what how it was shipped, I don't put it past the mail service to be all F---- Up, again I know that too.

I ordered one in late march. They got the money order on a Monday and shipped it the same day. It was at my dealer on Friday. Now if I could just find some cheap ammo to shoot n it!
