Recently picked up a Ruger standard 4" . Looks like somebody had the trigger out, I know ruger offered a target trigger for the Mark 1 . My question how do you tell the difference between the two triggers ? Also if one was offered foe the standard.

I think you mean an "RST-4" and the Ruger triggers look the same from the outside but some later ones had an over travel stop ( black peg/stud) on the plated trigger that had to be "adjusted/fitted, when new...so from the outside they all look pretty much the same ,silver, plated color...Volquartsen makes a wider stanless steel trigger but thats "after market" and you need to contact them............
