A couple times a year, Heliman and I drive from Oregon City and Vancouver to Pendleton, and Bear Paw Jack drives up from Boise. He just might be bringing McKnight77 with him this time.

Not much structure other than a nice visit, some lunch, and a tour of the gun shops around Pendleton. If anyone wants to meet us there, give one of us a shout. You'd be welcome.

WAYNO.

Say hello to Wayne York, owner and friend of Oregongunsmithing. If you have not been at his shop check it out. He has worked on several of my rifles. One is a 1886 winchester. He bored out the barrel from 33 win to 45-70, rifled the barrel and reblued the rifle. I recently shot a 3 shot 100 yard group with 405 grain bullets. just about 2 inch group. OK, just to let you know this was not a factory barrel. So, making the changes did not ruin the value. That happened over 60 years ago.

Wife took a tour of the "Undergound City" there==said it was interesting (I had some food poisoning)==Woolen mills tour wasn't anything to talk about.

My grandpa was born on a ranch there and rode rodeo.

Just a short hop up to tri cities to visit a couple more shops I have told you about. You guys always seem to pick one of the weeks I just happen to not be going that direction. I was there last week and will be back there again next week. Just be sure you stay late enough to miss out on the daily 205 traffic. Might be worth the time to make a stop at Bonneville---should be plenty of spring salmon to see in the windows. Always worth the stop at Cascade Locks for an ice cream cone. :)

That's a great trip! I've made that drive MANY times over my career in the oil, gas & power gen field. Be careful!

Best regards, Pete

We met, we ate, we visited, and we're now home..

This was a great day. By the time we shut down the casino restaurant, it was too late to do the gun-store crawl.

They are lucky I left before the buffet opens at 4.

Marlin and Jim. I had a good time, and I look forward to the next time we do this.

Dave. Thanks for tagging along and making the drive go really fast.

WAYNO.

Well, we didn't do any tours. Just sat around telling tales and stretching the truth! A nice get together. Hadn't seen Mcknight77 in a couple of years and Bear Paw Jack in 6 months or so. It's always a pleasure to spend time with WAYNO! I personally had a great time. Hope to get together again soon. Thanks guys!

Dave

Cholo, it was a great time. We don't get enough chances to spend time with folks we know and like that talk the same language, have similar backrounds, and can relate to getting older (and breaking down). What a great visit with these guys. I just wouldn't miss an opportunity to spend time with Wayno or Dave. It was nice to have McKnight 77 ride with me there and back. I knew he was a sharp guy, (retired Army Colonel) but got to hear some great stories of his time in Korea, some other stories. He can tell a story for sure. Wayno and Dave thanks for putting this together.

We came, we saw, we conquered! Four old vets enjoying camaraderie and discussion of Rugers near and dear. Thanks guys for a good time. We will definitely do it again.
