Anybody know of a place to see an animation or step-by-step operation of a Ruger Double Action? I am specifically interested in understanding the trigger group's operation, without taking apart my GP100.
I guess that more than a few Ruger employees might use this forum and would be the most knowledgeable.

AGI has a video of Ruger DA revolvers, great for really learning the Ruger DA lockwork.

This is a good video Tellico has given a link for. One thing I would definitely add to it: a plastic "parts" disassembly box with "numbered" bins to place each part/parts group as I disassembled the trigger guard. That insures that nothing rolls off the table or gets mixed up with other parts and reassembly is simply in the reverse of your numbered bins. As a long time gunsmith, I have many numbered parts boxes available as you never know when you are going to get interupted or have other guns to work on in the meantime. Gives you an "easy" starting point when you return to a specific disassembled gun!...................Dick

Sal, thanks for the info; I just put in an order for the DVD. I hope it's what I want, though if anyone else has any other suggestions, I would welcome them.

I very recently received the DVD which Sal1950 told about. It is OK, but not exactly what I was looking for. The DVD doesn't get much into how the double-action mechanism works, but it does tell you how to disassemble and reassemble the Ruger DA handguns. There are several hints mentioned, and I'm sure to gain some info from the DVD. Helpful to some degree is the cutaway frame revolver they use in the video.
As a result, I'm still looking for some kind of animation of DA revolver (Ruger's) workings. Even an amateur attempt would be better than nothing.

The AGI video is the only "animated" hard info I know.
In books the reference for Ruger DA's is.

This is an older book and the focus is on the S6 line of DA's Much is the same as the later GP-SPs but there are differences in the trigger springing, cylinder-crane lockup system, etc.
AFAIK these are the most detailed documents available to the general public.
Good Luck,
Sal
